Who we are
Perennial Bookclub is made by Prometheus Labs, a small software company in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. We build focused tools that do one job well. This one exists because so many of us own the classics and have finished so few of them: a whole book is daunting, but a chapter with your morning coffee is not.
How it works
Every book on the shelf is a complete public-domain text, prepared by hand into day-sized chapters of roughly 800 to 3,000 words. Each morning at 6:00 Eastern we email subscribers the next chapter of each book they follow: the original text first, then a companion summary in modern language, generated with AI and reviewed by us before a book goes live. Every delivered chapter is also readable on the site, so a missed email never costs you your place.
The texts
We use editions and translations that are in the public domain in both Canada and the United States, and we verify that status for every title before it ships. The texts are unabridged. Where a book is a translation, the book's page records which translation we use. If you find an error in a text or a summary, tell us and we will fix it.
Pricing
A free account lets you browse the shelf and read each book's sample chapter. Daily delivery starts with a 7-day free trial (card required), then $10 a month in Canadian dollars for unlimited books at once. Payments are processed by Stripe; you can cancel anytime from your account and your reading progress is kept.

Questions, problems and corrections go to hello@prometheuslabs.ca; a person reads and answers every message. If anything on this site is wrong or out of date, email us and we will correct it.
