Perennial Bookclub Terms of Service
Effective August 15, 2026 · Perennial Bookclub is operated by Prometheus Labs, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us").
1. The service
Perennial Bookclub delivers public-domain books by email, one chapter per day per book, with a companion summary under each chapter and a web reader for everything already delivered. The daily emails are the product: by subscribing you are asking us to send them.
2. Accounts
You need an account with a confirmed email address. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for activity on your account. One account per person; we may close accounts that abuse the service (for example, scraping, resale of content streams, or attempts to access chapters beyond your delivery).
3. Trial, billing and cancellation
- The paid membership starts with a 7-day free trial and requires a card. Nothing is charged until the trial ends; cancel before then and you pay nothing.
- After the trial, the membership is $10 per month in Canadian dollars, billed by Stripe. Taxes are added where required.
- Cancel anytime from your account (Manage billing). Daily emails stop at the end of the paid period; your account, book choices and progress are kept, and resubscribing resumes where every book left off.
- If a renewal payment fails, delivery pauses until payment succeeds.
4. Refunds
If the service did not work as described, email hello@prometheuslabs.ca within 30 days of a charge and we will refund it. Statutory rights are unaffected.
5. The texts and the summaries
- The books are public-domain texts; the texts themselves belong to everyone. Our chapter divisions, the companion summaries, and this site's design and copy are ours; personal, non-commercial use only, and no bulk redistribution of the summaries.
- The companion summaries are generated with AI and reviewed by us. They are reading aids, not scholarship: where a passage carries more than one accepted reading they present the main ones, and they can be imperfect. The original text is always the authority.
- The service is reading material. It is not professional, legal, medical, financial or spiritual advice.
6. Your data
How we handle your information, including deletion, is described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Service quality and liability
We aim for a chapter in your inbox every morning, but email delivery depends on systems we do not control; the web reader always has every chapter you have been sent. The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
8. General
We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Support: hello@prometheuslabs.ca.
